The advice around coronavirus infection is changing all the time. Please follow the guidance you receive from the admitting hospital. If possible, please isolate or consider how you can significantly reduce your risk of getting COVID-19 around the time of your surgery. The reason for this is that we know you will be more unwell if you get COVID-19 and have recently had an operation. You should not have a general anaesthetic for 7 weeks after COVID-19 infection unless it is an emergency as we see more patients admitted to Intensive Care with breathing problems if they have surgery soon after an infection.
